Tag Archives: Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog

Lots of things …

First things first – work continues to pervade, hence the reason why blogs are not regular and why they can tend to be long when posted.

Second; yes, we have a new feed, but yes, we are having issues with iTunes which we think has everything to do with the poor iTunes people having to listen to 73 shows before giving the okay.  Odile believes that she has resolved the issue by creating a new new feed which only gives the lovely iTunes one show to listen to and from there we can work backwards.  Both Odile and I want to thank you all for your patience, we are sorting this out one thing at a time and will get there. On a much more personal level, I want to thank Odile for ALL her work on this – I, for one, very much appreciate it.

In best UK “Top Gear” tradition, moving on …

If you are in the Huntington area of NY on 12 March, you want to be at the Cinema Arts Centre (yes, I’m English – deal with it :D ) supporting the live performances of both “Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” and “Once More With Feeling” as well as the screening of both.  The organisers are also having a costume competition and Whedon quiz.  It kicks off at 23:00 on 12 March and the full address is: Cinema Arts Center, 423 Park Avenue, Huntington, NY – sorry don’t have a zip code.  There are also more details on the NYC Browncoats Yahoo page.  Break a leg to all involved and hope you have a fabulous time.

Okay, that was a lot shorter than I thought it was going to be.

Scream, TV viewers! Dr. Horrible interceptizor’s the Emmys

DATELINE: 20 September 2009.  The Emmy broadcast was settling down into a very interesting explanation of the voting auditing procedure when the airwaves was interceptized by none other than our favourite sing-along uber villan, Dr Horrible euglogising on internet over TV.

Twitter followers of Shawna Trpcic will have been intrigued by a photo she posted a couple of weeks ago of the good evil Doctor’s googles.  Neil Patrick Harris’s reprisal of the role was also joined by Nathan Fillion as Captain Hammer along with Felicia Day and Simon Helberg.

Very funny – enjoy!

A request from Dr Horrible … and further SAG news

Given the pecularities of living in different time zones, overnight a shiny vertical1new “Dr Horrible” request popped into my inbox.  As most of our US cousins are aware, in early January People magazine hold their annual awards as voted for by us.  Well, okay, actually mostly YOU there in America-land, but of course thanks to the interweb device, we can all have our say on the few remaining categories that People have decided to leave open for a bit longer (you do of course realise that if “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” and Harrison Ford have not been voted winners in their particular categories, I’ll be sending The Boys round …)  One of these categories is “Favourite Online Sensation”, which of course has our favourite Super-Villan and his blog as one of the choices.  We can vote every day by going to The People’s Choice Awards website and basically voting until you can’t anymore.

News from Variety is that the Screen Actors Guild will be  balloting their members on possible strike action on 2 January.  The Guild require 75% of the 120,000 membership in favour of this action for the strike to happen.  Variety reports that authorization ballots will only be sent to those members whose dues are current which could bring the membership figure down to 110,000 and even if the membership were in favour of such action, the final decision can only be made by the Guild’s national board of directors and the belief is that any strike action is a final resort.

The Evil League of Evil: are you evil enough?

“Bad horse.  Bad horse.  Bad horse.  Bad horse.  He rides across the nation, the thoroughbred of sin …” and he’s finally accepting new submissions.

Odile and I will be talking about this in our next show out in but hours (or so I’m assured); however we do need to add this to the site in the meantime.

Yes, as spoken about at the “Dr Horrible” panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, video submissions are being accepted with the best applicants being included on the forthcoming DVD.  There are strict criteria and you will find full details at their fiendishly disguised website, here.

For those of you wishing to emulate Bad Horse and the newest member of the League, Dr Horrible,  Sending A Wave manor wish you the very best of luck with your application

When Fandoms Collide …

News comes our way from Paul Dunphy and the excellent Commander Bond.net podcast and website (the podcast is a must for Bond fans and worth it for the music!) of a collision of 2 of my favourite fandoms.  Zoic is currently working on the title sequence of the tie-in computer game of the next James Bond film, “Quantum of Solace”.  As we all know, Zoic did the VSFX for both “Firefly” and “Serenity”.

The soundtrack for “Dr Horrible” is available as a download on the UK iTunes and a mailshot from the “Dr Horrible” website says that “DH” will be coming to non-US iTunes stores soon.  UK iTunes is charging £7.99 for the download.

Qmx: “Better Days Big Haul Giveaway”, Creation announce Summer Glau for November and “Dr Horrible” trailer hits the web

Hope you’ve all found your way here from the previous site.  Andrew and Paul (Cadmium 2) have been using WordPress for a while and figured it was idiot proof enough for me …

Ever wondered just what 1 million cashy money notes would feel like?  Thanks to a new competition by our friends at Qmx, you just might be the lucky so-and-so who finds out!  Running from 30 June to 30 September, Qmx (in conjunction with Dark Horse comics) are saying a huge “thank you” to Browncoats worldwide for their past, present and continued support by hosting a draw where the prizes are enough to have you drooling!

To qualify, you must purchase one of their classic money packs (currently $17.95 or less than £10 for those of us in the UK!) direction from the Qmx website.  Each purchase will automatically qualify you into the draw.  Rather than me listing the prizes, why don’t you head off here to view for yourself?

Just as an aside, during our Big Damn Stateside adventure in February, I was very lucky to see the Kaylee maquette in the “flesh” so to speak and it is as pretty and cute as it’s photo suggests.

On the 1 July, Creation announced Summer Glau as their latest guest to their “Salute to Serenity” convention at the Burbank Marriott in November.

For our viewing delectation, Joss has released the trailer for “Dr Horrible” and you can read a letter from Joss giving details of the release here
